The triple constraint is a project management institute which calls the framework for evaluating these competing demands. The project management interdependent displays the relationship between the three primary variables (which are also known as the triple constraint) in any project –time, cost and scope. These variables are independent. Project management is the science of making intelligence trade-offs between time, cost and scope. Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements. Hence the triple constraints is important in project management because if a dilemma occurs for example a project fails either because they’re delivered late, com in over budget or don’t deliver the scope initially agreed on. Therefore the triple constraint is important to take into consideration for an effective project management.

2.Describe the two primary diagrams most frequently used in project planning?
The two primary diagram that are most frequently used in project planning are PERT chart and gantt chart. Project planning is a formal, approved document that manages and controls project execution. Hence one of the diagrams used in project planning is a program evaluation and review technique. This is a graphical network model that depicts a project’s tasks and the relationship between those tasks. A gantt chart is a simple bar chart that depicts project tasks against a calendar.

3.Identify the three primary areas a project manager must focus on managing to ensure success?
A project manager must focus on managing three primary areas to ensure success and these include people, communication and change. Managing people is a critical task a project manager undertakes. Resolving conflicts within the team and balancing the needs of the projects with the personal and professional needs of the team are two of the challenges facing project management. However for the project management to ensure success they should manage the stockholders and the project as well as the need to manage the development of the team. A project manager should also need to be understood and managed as it is often critical to a projects success. A project manager distributes timely, accurate and meaningful information regarding project objectives that involve time, cost, scope and quality – this hence manages communication and therefore will lead to success. The use of planning and scheduling tools such as Microsoft project, blogs and task tracking tools such as Flyspray aid communicating information to the team about the project status. Another important aspect project mangers should focus on to ensure success is communication plans to provide a method for continually obtain and monitor feedback from and for all stakeholders. Managers should develop a method for asking for specific feedback as part of the plan and responding to it in a timely, organised manner. Successful organisation and successful people learn to anticipate and react appropriately. Dynamic organizational change is inevitable and an organization must effectively manage change as it evolves. Change management is a set of techniques that aid in evolution, composition and policy management of the design and implementation of a system. To ensure success a manager should use the change management system which includes a collection of procedures to document a change request and define the steps necessary to consider the change based on the expected impact of change.
4.Outline 2 reasons why projects fail and two reasons why projects suceed?
Two reasons as to why projects succeed is through Project Sponsorship at executive level and a good project charter. Therefore through financial sponsorship it will allow the business to have a well structured budget as it will also depend upon two businesses financial benefits. A good project charter will also be a reason as to why a project will succeed because it will allow the business to set a goal and follow a set structure in the day to day running of the business. Two reasons as to why projects fail include poor scope as having no defined goal will not motivate the business. Also having unrealistic expectations will lead to failure as the business will stop becoming motivated due to not succeeding.
